Our Program

This section describes our entire hockey program from children just learning how to skate through Bantam-level competitive hockey.

Learn To Skate - For children of all ages

This is the program for children who wants to learn how to ice skate.  It is geared toward the beginner, teaching the basics of skating.   This program is run by the  Cornerstone Ice Center.

Hockey Initiation Program (HIP) - For children of all ages

This program is for children of any age to be introduced to the basic concepts of hockey.  It is assumed that they have already gone through the "Learn To Skate" or already have the basics of skating.  In this program, the children will learn how to stickhandle and shoot the puck, reinforce the skating skills from "Learn To Skate", plus work on new skating skills such as crossovers.  This program is run by the Cornerstone Ice Center

Mite Hockey - Ages 4-8

Recommended prerequisite: HIP or equivalent skill.

This program has practice once per week, and "cross ice" games on Sunday. The practices will work on basic hockey skills such as skating, stick-handling, and shooting. The players will be broken up into teams of 8 or 9 players (by jersey color) and will play cross-ice games (with and without goaltenders) on Sundays. The teams will also participate in one or more cross-ice jamborees, where the kids will play teams from other associations such as Depere, Appleton and Fox Valley. In the second part of the season (January), teams of players interested in playing full ice games will be put together and will play a few additional full ice games. The full ice games are optional for parents/players interested in seeing what full-ice hockey is all about.  We will also be hosting the "MiteFest" tournament at the Cornerstone Arena where the kids will have a chance to play full-ice hockey against other associations.  Please note that there is no state tournament at this level.  This level is purely a developmental program.

Squirt hockey is broken up into "Competitive" (A and B teams) and "Recreational" (C teams).  All hockey at this level is played full ice.  The A and B teams are determined at the A/B tryouts based on skill.  If they do not make either of the competitive teams, they should attend the Recreational tryouts and will be assigned to one of the C teams.
